NOCO Boost Air AX65 Review

A dead battery and a low tire are the two roadside problems winter reliably produces, and until recently they took two tools: a lithium jump pack and a 12V plug-in inflator that ran off the car — or off the jump pack's 12V port, if it had one. The AX65 folds the inflator into the jump starter. The starting half is straightforwardly NOCO's 2,000A tier: the same 8.0L gas and 6.0L diesel rating as the GB70, the same UltraSafe clamp logic that won't spark or energize on a reversed connection, and the same -4°F operating floor.

The compressor is the part to scrutinize, because most 'jump starter with inflator' products bolt on a toy. This one isn't: a 280W motor, 67 liters per minute of flow, 100 psi maximum, and a digital gauge where you set a target and let it shut itself off. NOCO's figures are 0 to 40 psi in about two minutes on a passenger tire and a 35-to-40 psi top-off in 22 seconds; RV.com's review found the flat-to-40 claim held up. A 3-foot braided hose and Presta, needle, and toy adapters come in the bag. The one spec to respect is the duty cycle — five minutes running, thirty minutes resting — which is plenty for one flat and a chore for topping off a whole set of tires from cold.

The compromises are the ones you'd expect from putting a compressor in a battery pack. It's about seven pounds and the size of a hardcover atlas, the housing is IP55 rather than the IP65 of the plain jump packs, and the compressor draws on the same 31.8Wh cell you're counting on for the jump, so refill the tire and then refill the pack. Priced at roughly $300 it costs more than a GB70 and a good standalone inflator bought separately; what you're paying for is one thing to charge, one thing to find in the dark, and one thing to teach the rest of the family to use. For a lot of trunks, that's worth the premium.
