NOCO Boost X GBX75 Review

The Boost X tier NOCO built for the gap between the GB70 and the GBX155 — 2,500A, an 8.5L gas / 6.5L diesel rating, and the same 60W USB-C fast charging as the GBX45.

NOCO Boost X GBX75

The verdict

The GBX75 is the answer for someone whose engine is a little too much for the GB70's 2,000A rating but who doesn't want to pay GBX155 money or carry seven and a half pounds. It matches the GBX155's diesel-adjacent confidence on a V8 or a light diesel, recharges from empty in under two hours over USB-C, and still fits under a seat rather than in a toolbox. It's a real step up in price over the GB70, and if your vehicle is a four- or six-cylinder commuter car, that GB70 (or the smaller GBX45) already has you covered for less.

What we like

  • +2,500A rating covers gas engines up to 8.5L and diesels up to 6.5L — a genuine step above the GB70's 8.0L/6.0L
  • +60W USB-C PD in and out: full recharge in about 1.8 hours, boost-ready in 5 minutes, and it fast-charges a laptop
  • +400-lumen flashlight with 7 modes including SOS and strobe — brighter than the GB40/GB70's units
  • +UltraSafe 2.0 clamps: spark-proof, reverse-polarity protected, with the revised thermal management NOCO added to the Boost X line
  • +3.77 lb — noticeably lighter than the GBX155 for a rating that covers most gas V8s and mid-size diesels

What to know

  • Same -4°F operating floor as the rest of the NOCO line — no cold-weather edge over the GB70
  • A real jump in price over the GB70 for a rating most drivers won't need
  • No 12V accessory output on this model — USB-C and USB-A only
  • Still short of the GBX155's 10.0L gas / 8.0L diesel ceiling for the biggest trucks and RVs

Full review

NOCO's Boost X lineup exists because the old GB-series left a gap between 'compact commuter pack' and 'diesel truck pack,' and the GBX75 is the tier built specifically for the middle of that gap. At 2,500A and an 8.5L gas / 6.5L diesel rating, it sits meaningfully above the GB70's 2,000A/8.0L-gas/6.0L-diesel spec without approaching the GBX155's 4,250A heavy-duty territory — useful if you drive a gas V8 truck or a light diesel and have found the GB70 works but doesn't leave much margin on a cold morning.

The USB-C port is the generational upgrade that matters day to day. Sixty watts in means a full recharge from empty takes under two hours instead of the better part of a day on the GB70's micro-USB input, and NOCO's 'boost-ready in 5 minutes' figure means a pack you found flat can still save you. The same port pushes 60W out, enough to fast-charge a laptop, and the 400-lumen flashlight is brighter than anything else in NOCO's compact lineup short of the GBX155's 500-lumen unit. UltraSafe 2.0 carries over the same spark-proof, reverse-polarity-protected clamp logic as the rest of the family.

What you give up next to the GBX155 is engine ceiling and the 12V accessory port — this pack tops out well short of a 10.0L diesel and won't run a plug-in inflator on its own. What you save is close to $120 and several pounds. For the driver whose vehicle actually needs more than a GB70 but not the biggest pack NOCO sells, the GBX75 is the size to buy; for a sedan or crossover, the GB40 or GBX45 remain the better value.

Best for: V8 gas trucks and SUVs, and light-to-mid-size diesels, where a GB70 is right at its limit but a GBX155 is more pack than the vehicle needs.
