Our verdict
Cables versus fabric. The Super Z6 grips harder, lasts longer, and is unambiguously a 'chain' under every chain law; the AutoSock goes on in two minutes with bare hands, fits cars with zero clearance, and is accepted as an alternative traction device in many states — but it shreds on bare pavement and isn't accepted everywhere. If your car can take the Super Z6, it's the better traction device. If it can't, or you know you'll never actually fit chains on a shoulder, the AutoSock is the one that gets used.
